Pressure-free environment

Learning occurs in a calm environment free from pressure. Each child is allowed an opportunity to take a turn with the instruments, but never pressured to perform. Just like adults, many children need multiple opportunities to observe a situation before they are willing to participate. Children may opt for an active turn, a listening turn, or a parent can model participatory behavior in an encouraging manner.

What to Expect

Classes run for 60 minutes and include a variety of activities such as singing children's songs, reciting classic nursery rhymes, marching to the beat, clapping and tapping rhythms, playing drums or xylophones, dancing with scarves, shaking eggs, reading stories, interacting with new friends, taking turns, and much more!

This is an active music-making class. Your primary instrument is your voice (and your child loves hearing it, even if you don't!). Please wear comfortable clothing and plan to sit on the floor, jump up and dance, and bond with your child from the comfort of your stocking feet!

Daily Listening

You and your child will be most comfortable participating when you have internalized the music from class. This requires daily listening to the reference recordings in your home environment. You can download the class recordings on iTunes or Amazon or purchase CDs. There are 2 albums: Week 1 and Week 2 of Lullabies, Action Songs, and Rhymes by Sharon Jones, David Jones, and Rob Inch.
I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and the arts are the keys to learning."    -Plato
