Welcome! My name is Megan Titensor. I'm the Founder and Director of Little Spark Music. We are based in South Seattle, with class locations conveniently located in the vibrant neighborhoods of Mt. Baker and Columbia/Hillman City. I am thrilled to offer Suzuki Early Childhood Education in my community.

Not a franchise, nor based on any corporate business model, Little Spark Music is focused on early education using the Suzuki music education philosophy. This program relies on parent involvement to support the development of each unique child attending our classes. We believe that early learning experiences are among the most important and we are committed to creating the calm, nurturing learning environment where children will grow and thrive. Register now for the perfect bonding activity with your little one!

Thank you for visiting. We look forward to seeing you class!

About the Curriculum

Suzuki Early Childhood Education (SECE) is based on the music education philosophy developed in Japan in the 1950s by the renowned violin teacher, Shinichi Suzuki. Canadian pedagogues, Dorothy and Sharon Jones, were asked by Suzuki to create this unique and advanced curriculum to lay a foundation for all learning as well as prepare students for instrumental study. SECE has been endorsed by the International Suzuki Association and is utilized all over the world. Adaptations in different languages are continually being developed.

The child-centered curriculum includes classic nursery rhymes, children's songs, and lullabies alternating each week. This artful repetition allows children to master the skills they are developing.

Additionally, SECE lays the foundation for lifelong learning using music as a vehicle:
  • To develop an appreciation of beauty
  • To give a sense of purpose to life
  • To learn the discipline of acquiring a skill
  • To become a fine human being

3 Core Beliefs

There are 3 core beliefs that guide the SECE curriculum:
  1. Every Child Can Learn
  2. Ability Develops Early
  3. Environment Nurtures Growth

Implementation of Principles

  1. Allowing children to learn from one another in mixed-age classes
  2. Success breeds success
  3. Parental involvement is critical in the early development of a child
  4. Encouragement is essential
This video gives a brief overview of the SECE program in Toronto, Canada. It highlights the importance of early music education, the joy it brings, and why Suzuki is the best choice.
I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and the arts are the keys to learning."    -Plato
